Support conversion between JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and other formats, maintain high-quality output, support batch conversion processing

Select Images

How to Use

  1. Click select files or drag image files to the selection area
  2. Select target format and conversion quality
  3. Adjust format-specific options as needed or keep defaults
  4. Click "Start Conversion" button to process
  5. Download the processed images

Conversion Tips

  • Photos recommended to convert to JPEG, quality setting 80-90%
  • Icons and transparent images recommended to convert to PNG
  • Web images recommended to convert to WebP for better compression
  • Simple animations can be converted to GIF format
  • Batch processing can convert multiple images simultaneously to improve efficiency

How to Convert Image Formats Online?

  1. Upload the images you want to convert — multiple files can be added at once for batch processing.
  2. Choose the output type in "Target Format". Not sure which? Check the measured decision table below — the right answer depends on what your image contains.
  3. Adjust the conversion quality slider as needed, and tick the format-specific options such as progressive JPEG or interlaced PNG.
  4. Hit "Start Conversion", then download files one by one or grab them all as a ZIP package.

Real-World Numbers From Our Research

We ran the same 20 images through every format with these browser encoders — full data in Study 02:

  • Photos: WebP Q60 (102 KB, SSIM 0.955) matched JPEG Q50's fidelity (149 KB) — the honest saving is ~31%, not the "half the size" often claimed. At Q90 both measured equal.
  • Text documents: lossless WebP measured 3.6× smaller than PNG (87 KB vs 314 KB-class PNG) with zero loss.
  • The counter-finding: an already-optimized PNG screenshot got larger under lossless WebP (259 vs 123 KB) — converting isn't always a win, which is why we publish the data.
  • Bonus effect: conversion strips EXIF metadata — all 26 fields including GPS, measured in Study 04.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which format should I convert to?

Match the format to the content, per our measurements: photos → WebP Q60 (or JPEG for maximum compatibility); screenshots → WebP (it beat JPEG on both size and fidelity at every quality tested); text documents → lossless WebP (3.6× smaller than PNG); already-optimized PNG → keep PNG (lossless WebP made it bigger in our test). The full decision table is in our format guide.

Why does my PNG turn black after converting to JPG?

JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas get filled with black during the conversion. To keep transparency, choose PNG or WebP as the output format instead.

Does converting remove metadata like GPS location?

Yes, and we measured it: any decode-and-re-encode step — which is what every conversion here does — removed all 26 EXIF fields including the GPS block, device model and capture timestamps. That makes conversion a practical privacy step before sharing photos (see Study 04 for the full survival matrix).

Does converting reduce image quality?

Only if you convert to a lossy format (JPEG, or WebP below quality 100) — and then the slider decides, with the size/fidelity trade-offs we measured in Study 02. Lossless targets (PNG, WebP at 100) lose nothing. One nuance from the data: "lossless" doesn't guarantee smaller — our optimized PNG screenshot grew 2× under lossless WebP. Convert, compare the sizes, keep whichever wins.
